International Relations Unit hosts partner universities from US
In collaboration with the Cluster of African Languages, Linguistics, and Development Modules, the International Relations Office hosted students and lecturers from Howard University, Jackson State University, and Harvard University.
Their visit to UKZN included attending a lecture delivered by Dr Gugu Mazibuko, Senior Lecturer at UKZN’s School of Arts (African Languages), on the rich history of the Zulu Empire and Monarchy.
‘International Relations Unit’s reception and hospitality exemplified the spirit of Ubuntu, which is central to our South African value system. The lecture delivered by Dr Gugu Mazibuko paved the way for the students to contextualise the isiZulu language which they are taking in the United States,’ said Dr Sipho Sithole, an IsiZulu lecturer from Howard University, USA.
Some of the students expressed their willingness to return to UKZN, either as post-graduate student or as practitioners in their chosen field.
